Obituary

Willie C. “Uncle Bill” Ford unexpectedly transitioned to Heaven on Thursday, January 14, 2021.

He was born on September 16, 1943 in Orion, Alabama to Curbie and Lessie Ford. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1962.

Uncle Bill loved and lived for his family and his very near and dear friends spanning the entire country. He enjoyed living a fabulous life, finding his passion in entertaining and hosting social gatherings.  He had a magnificent eye for fashion, an exquisite sense of style, and an exclusive collection of the finest colognes from around the world... as he would say in his own words, “not that stuff from CVS, Darling!”

He adored his nieces and nephews, and he never missed an opportunity to encourage and tell them how proud he was of them. He cherished sharing sage words of wisdom and experience.  His most memorable and impactful quotes include:

“A closed fist gathers no stones.”

“Don’t be on the corner arguing with no fool, because the people passing by don’t know who the fool is.”

“Cash on sight keeps down the fight.”

“They’re in the Higher Institution of Learning (AKA- prison).”

Uncle Bill was intelligent, eloquently spoken, and had an untiring humanitarian and generous spirit, which he used to serve his community.  He regularly volunteered at the Community Health Center. With Clifford by his side, Uncle Bill frequently brought joy to the local nursing homes by visiting with the residences and service providers. He was also an avid advocate for civil rights and volunteered for local political campaigns. He was baptized by Pastor O’Neal and became an active member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and assisted wherever he was needed.

He is survived by his “son,” Clifford, a sister, Joy K. Ford, and a host of several beloved nieces and nephews.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Curbie and Lessie Ford, his brother, Curtis Ford, and his sisters, Mamie “Jean” Ford and Donna Rhea McGraw.
