Taszel Brooks

Taszel Brooks “Toby” went home to be with the LORD on February 18th, 2025

Toby was born December 14, 1949 to John J. and Bernice Jackson Brooks. He was born in Money, Mississippi and his parents later relocated the family to Anderson, Indiana.

Toby accepted Christ as his Savior as a child and was baptized at Anderson Zion Baptist Church by Rev JT Menifee. He was active as a youth usher, and sang in the choir.

Toby attended Anderson Public Schools and graduated from Anderson High School in 1968.

Toby moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he lived the majority of his adult life. While there, he spent 35 years with the love of his life, Linda Ruth Patterson. Together they raised two daughters, Phyillis Williamson and Kalebra Patterson.

He is survived by his two daughters Phyillis and Kalebra. Six siblings: John (Barbara) Brooks, Dr. Horace (Roberta) Brooks, Dr. Neva Brooks, Brenetta (Myron) Bannister, Shonnie Brooks, and Andrika Radford-Brooks. He also leaves to cherish his memories, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Bernice, Linda Patterson, grandparents, great-grandparent, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and special cousins and friends.
