Robert Barnes Sr.

Robert Lee Barnes, Sr., 83, passed away on March 26, 2022, at home with his family at his bedside. He was born on November 30, 1938, to Odie and Edna Barnes in Tunica, Mississippi. He attended Barber school in Indianapolis, IN where he obtained his master barber degree. He owned a barber shop and beauty salon in Anderson, IN and worked as a barber for many years. He was Employed by General Motors as a skilled journeyman and retired after 30 years of dedicated service.

His favorite hobbies included remodeling homes, doing yard work, gardening, and he enjoyed talking to everyone. He loved and cherished his family and always displayed kindness and concern for others.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Mona Barnes, daughters; Seta Barnes-Stennis, Aleta Barnes (Joel) Sanchez, Asia(Donnie) Kilgore, Alicia Evans, and Leah (David) Bond, Sons; Gilbert (Deretha) Smith, Jermaine Hopkins (Alisha), Marqui (Dee) Evans, Lawrence (Consula) Evans lll, Sister, Dorothy Johnson, Best friend, Billy Ward Sr. and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins & a host of other relatives, and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his Parents; Odie and Edna Barnes. Sons; Robert Barnes Jr, and Dennis Barnes. Daughter; Ramona Olinger, Grandson; Jodeci Daniels. Brothers; Cephus Barnes, Roosevelt Barnes, Earl Barnes, and Edker “Billy” Barnes. Sisters; Vernice (Barnes) Goodwin, Ruby Tribblett, Zella Peterson, and Agusta “Gussie” Johnson.
