Johnnie Cotton

Johnnie Clay Cotton, age 104 went home to be with the Lord June 18, 2021 at Community Hospital, Anderson after a brief illness.  He was born on January 31, 1917 in Meridian, MS to the late Robert Cotton and Callie McCroy.  He was a retired construction worker and loved to garden every year until his health declined.  Johnnie was a veteran of United States Army where he served and received an honorable discharge.

He was affectionately known as “Poppa”, where he leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 73 years, Linnie Cotton, daughter Victoria Hudson of Phoenix, AZ, sister, Collette Cotton of Mississippi, five grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and family members.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Cotton and Callie McCroy, brother, James Cotton, daughter, Gloria Rush, granddaughter, Demetia kay Morgan.
