Joe Louis Welch, the son of Yancy Welch Sr. and Bettie Lawler, was born June 20, 1936, Talladega, Alabama. He received his education in Talladega, Alabama.
He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and was an excellent bowler. Joe was scouted to be a pro baseball player in high school.
Joe Louis accepted Christ and was baptized in accordance with the Baptist Alliance, he was employed at Delphi and General Motors in which he retired after 28 years.
Joe Louis married Debroa Welch in Aug 11, 1995 26 years and he proposed to her in 1990, but she accepted in 1995, they were together for 32 years. they were the best of friends and took very good care of one another through the years. They laughed, traveled and they loved kids and took good care of them.
Joe Louis departed this life on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at the age of 84years, 9 months and 15 days. He was proceeded in death by and his parents Yancy Welch Sr. and Bettie Lawler Welch and Brothers Andrew Welch and Charles Edward Welch and Sister Catherine (Joan) Wilson and his Son James (Butch) Scott.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Debroa Welch, Brothers –William Welch and Gardner Welch, Sisters – Betty Sue Swain, Florence Lee Gould and Sarah Williams and his step children, Larry Dowdell, Sina Gibbs, Rose Dowdell-Brown and Adophlus “Boo” Jordan many Sisters and Brother in laws and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be March 20,2021, at L.C. May Funeral Services 2024 Madison Ave, Anderson, IN. Viewing will begin at 10am and services at 12pm. In Guidelines with the Indiana Governor's Mandate, Face Coverings will be Mandatory and following all Social Distancing Requirements. Live Streaming will be available.
