Helen Jones Obituary

Helen Jean “Stockett” Jones was born September 25,1941 in Brownsville, Tn to the union of Augustus and Anna Lou Stockett.

Helen confessed her faith in Christ at an early age at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Helen passed away December 27,2021 surrounded by family.

At the age of 16, Helen married her best friend, the late Rev. John L. Jones. Helen went on to complete her education at Ball State University. Helen loved taking care of her family. She also loved traveling, playing cards, fishing, and shopping. She was known for her sassy “Ms. Chancellor” style, and no no sense. Helen loved singing every chance she could get. Helen sang with the local group, “The Thompson Singers”.

Helen leaves to cherish her loving memory 1 daughter: Robin (Raymond) Smith of Grand Prairie, TX. 5 grandchildren; Jonathan (Heather) Jones of Muncie, IN, Ivionna (Michael) Lipscomb of Covington, GA, Raymond Smith III, Tyler Smith, La’Marr (Kenedee) Smith all of Grand Prairie, TX. Known as” Momma Jean” to a special nephew Quentin Byrd. 1 adopted granddaughter Kenya Folds of Georgia. 5 great- grandchildren; Bella Dearinger, Javionna Smith both of Muncie, IN. Mionna Lipscomb, Michael Lipscomb, Jr, and Myzaiah Lipscomb all of Covington, GA.  1 sister; Mary” pie” Byrd of McDonough, GA. 2 brothers; Larry (Dorthy) Stockett of Muncie, IN. W.T. (Renea) Davis of Memphis, TN. Helen also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, and a special friend James Whitley.

She is preceded in death by both parents Augustus and Anna Lou Stockett. Husband Rev. John L. Jones and her son John L. Jones, Jr. Two daughters; Mary Helen and Lesa Jones and 3 brothers.
