Eirtha Mae Dates

Eirtha Mae Dates, 89, departed this life on November 8, 2025 in Anderson, Indiana. Born May 11, 1936 to the late Johnny and Lillian Adams. She was raised in Lexington, South Carolina.

She graduated from Rosenwald High School with honors. She moved to Anderson, Indiana for better opportunities. She was housekeeper and nanny until she landed a job with General Motors and remained there until retirement.

She married Hanna Dates Jr. and they were married for over 56 years. She believed and loved in helping and volunteering at her church, Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church when she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Hanna Dates, Jr.

She is survived by her sister Betty Wise. Children Marian Faye Cook, Anthony Orlando Adams, Leonard Hanna Dates, James Terry Dates, Eric Terrell Dates and Marcus Henry Dates. Brothers-in-law George (Sandra) Garrett, Larry Garrett and Henry Calhoun. Sisters-in-law Elma Calloway, Ruby Cilop, Nellie Heath and Annette Scale. Also, eight grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
